Rosie O'Hara

My background is varied, I started out working in accounts and banking in Germany (speaking German as a native is another talent), I went on to own a bakery and run a delicatessen, I have also hired out cranes and chased payment for them, repaired cars and owned and run a language company. And I am also a Mechanical Engineer somewhere along the way.

I came to NLP through language teaching to engineers, I had never taught before and I wanted to know how to make learning fun and easy for adults. I then worked with very small children, and others who had been told they were not gifted or wouldn’t make the grade, and I set up a training package to train people who spoke good German and knew the culture, to teach children useful things in German and incorporate some of this NLP magic in the learning.
We use NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming – the Art and Science of generating alterative and better behaviours) with Companies to aid the generation of alternative behaviours, to enable people to understand themselves and others. The biggest challenge in any organisation is probably communication, the larger the organisation, the more of a challenge communications become. Our greater reliance on technology (and ‘labour-saving devices’) and the growing support for diversity in the workforce, mean that effective communication is getting more of challenge, and yet it is also becoming more important than ever.

Since January 2004 my company NLP Highland has been providing and delivering training in NLP and NLP-based training for companies, individuals, and organisations throughout the Highlands and Islands, Moray, Aberdeen and Grampian.

Malcolm Aldridge

Malcolm is a Member of the Institute of Business Consultants and has a Masters in Business Administration. His background is in engineering where he worked for a blue-chip organisation on many large projects with other organisations and large teams of people. He has worked in Germany and America and appreciates the diverse ways in which different communities think and behave.

Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) came to Malcolm in 2004 and helped satisfy his curiosity about how and why people do things in the way that they do. NLP helped make sense of the disparate behaviours he had observed throughout life. He is now a Master Practitioner and still being challenged by NLP, with his curiosity stretched to new limits. Malcolm knew straight away that NLP had much to offer his business and his own personal development and is now ready, along with the rest of his skills, to pass this knowledge on to others so that they might also benefit.

Malcolm has been helping people learn new skills over many years, mixing this with running organisations himself in practical and effective ways. He can help you to improve communication, such that things happen in the way intended. Malcolm genuinely believes in people and how everyone contributes in their own special way and how they have the potential to be more satisfied and proud of themselves and the organisation they work for.

Patricia Clarihew

I worked in the following industries amongst others: woollen mills, solicitors, crane hire and paper manufacture. Each had their own cultures and customer base. I studied for formal qualifications when my children grew older and have an HNC in Computing with another HNC Secretarial Studies.

I was always interested in driving and passed the advanced test when I joined the local group of advanced motorists. I stayed on as an observer and represented the group on the local accident prevention committee.

When a specialist civilian post became available with Grampian Police I was encouraged to apply. I worked with them first as an accident prevention officer and then we were designated as road safety officers. In that role I completed a Diploma in Accident and Safety management.

A greater understanding of ergonomics, behaviour and analysis lead me to branch out into occupational health and I am a technician member of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH).

Supporting people had become a habit and it was a great surprise and pleasure to be awarded a fellowship of the Institute of Road Safety Officers by my peers for supporting them. Grampian Police also introduced me to NLP, they paid for the training for a number of people from all ranks. We had to apply with the reason we were interested and how we may go on to use NLP.

Little did I know that my world would never be quite the same again, in a nice way. The tools we were given are so simple, but understanding ourselves and making best use of them took many hours of practice.

I had a need to understand how things work and seeing the results of NLP techniques on health and behaviour lead me to find out more about the body. Back I went to study, I have a Diploma in Complementary Therapies which filled in many gaps in anatomy, and this has reinforced my belief in NLP as a powerful set of tools.

There is time in my life for fun too, and dancing of all types features at least once or twice a week. Walking and exploring, meeting people and new hobbies help to fill the remaining hours.
